Byetone

Olaf Bender, the real name behind sound- and visual composer going under the moniker Byetone, was born in Chemnitz in 1968. Together with Frank Bretschneider they started their own label Rastermusic, originally intended to release only their own music – Olaf is responsible for the visual style of the label and public relations. He debuted as Byetone in 1999, in 2003 he released his critically acclaimed album Feld. His composition process is quite sophisticated – creating complex sounding music layers by manipulating few simple tones or sounds. During his live shows he adds also a visual side with his ability to animate in real-time, you get a rich multimedia interaction. His performance at Sperm Festival will be substantial for all who don’t stay on the shiny surface but like to dig deeper when perceiving music.
