Adam Butler aka Vert is a British artist living and working in Cologne on Rheine. In his project, he deals in the first place with fusion genres. On the new record Some Beans and an Octopus, which came out in October last year on the label Sonig, he shows the various contexts in which popular music can be understood.
There he veers from his well established image as an intellectual laptopist and unleashes a stream of emotions. Vert is a perfect example of artists who assume a second identityô he makes a clear distinction between "Vert" and "Adam Butler". This allows him to recreate himself through the deconstruction of jazz and classical forms and the transformation of these genres into compositions for piano and laptop. The live album he released in 2002 ("The Köln Konzert") was declared by Wire magazine to be one of the best of the year. This guarantees that his performances as Vert, where he is accompanied by contrabass and drums, are nothing less than a unique experience loaded with energy. A British-German cabaret.
