Kirkegaard switches between various forms of peformance, film music, instalation and composition. He works with the phenomenology of space and sound, sound membranes and fine interferences occuring in various modes of the natural enviroment, as well as investigating sound in architecture. He graduated from the Media Arts Academy in Cologne on Rheine and held lectures on archaeological and spacial aspects of sound at the Academy of Architecture in Copenhagen. He has held exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denmark, KIASMA Art Museum in Finland, at the Kölnischer Kunstverein, Rachel Haferkamp Gallery and at the Berlin Transmediale.
